Yoga Classes

The Otsego County Commission on Aging offers two types of Yoga Classes; Gentle and Vinyasa Yoga. The instructor for both is Facilitator Annette Horino-Holbrook.

Gentle Yoga is designed to help older adults increase their flexibility, strength, and stamina. Gentle Yoga features traditional yoga poses, but modifications will be available for those wishing to do them from a seated position.

Vinyasa Yoga is an arm of yoga that links breath in a continuous flowing sequence. Class participants will move from one pose to another in a smooth, almost dance-like flow. The pace will be fairly slow. Poses are held at least 3-5 seconds and sometimes longer. Flows will incorporate Sun Salutations A, B, and C, Warriors I, II, and III, balance poses, and occasionally inversions. The focus of the class is increased strength, balance, and flexibility with a central focus on correct and safe execution of poses.
