Respite Care

The Otsego County Commission on Aging offers respite care for caregivers both in-the-home through the In-Home Services staff, and on-site at the Otsego Haus Adult Day Services program.

The OCCOA In-Home Service Department provides respite care to eligible older adults in Otsego County (60 years of age or older). Respite care is a key to helping caregivers handle both the physical and emotional stresses of caregiving. Typically, donation-based services are available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for those who qualify. Frequency of service is determined by need, as assessed by our Medical Resource Coordinator.

The OCCOA also offers respite care on a fee-for-service basis for those needing more time than is available on a donation-basis. Rates are affordable at the prevailing market average, and accommodations can be made for both evenings and weekends. Because of the need to schedule staff for non-business hours, arrangements must be made in advance for fee-for-service respite care. Call the Medical Resource Coordinator at (989) 705-2574 for more information.

The Otsego Haus Adult Day program offers caregivers the option of bringing their loved one to our facility where we take care of that person for part of or all of a day as fits your needs and the program’s days and hours of operation. Click here for more details on Otsego Haus.
