The OCCOA annually offers a free Tax Assistance Program that is targeted at taxpayers with incomes of $55,000 or less. Through the program, two types of clinics will be offered throughout the filing season – VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) clinics (in partnership with the IRS and RSVP) and Michigan Credits (Michigan Home Heating and Michigan Homestead Property Tax) clinics (in partnership with RSVP). VITA return preparers are volunteers who have been trained and certified, annually, through VITA.
